TOKYO -- Severe tropical storm Ampil is expected to intensify into a typhoon as it nears eastern Japan on Friday, forcing cancellations of public transit services during the country's holiday travel rush.

ISLAMABAD -- Four soldiers and six terrorists were killed in a clash in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistan army said on Wednesday.

BANGKOK -- Thailand's Constitutional Court on Wednesday removed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from office over his ethical violation for appointing a cabinet member with a prison record.

The judges agreed by five votes to four to end Srettha's premiership status for breaching ethical standards under the country's constitution. TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced Wednesday that he will not run in the presidential election of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) next month, in a countdown to his three-year term.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's famous Angkor Archaeological Park received 44,053 Chinese visitors in the first seven months of 2024, up 33.4 percent over the same period last year, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said in a report on Wednesday.
