BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Argentina international left-back Marcos Acuna is set to leave Sevilla to join Buenos Aires giants River Plate, according to widespread media reports in the South American country.

The 32-year-old has a year left on his Sevilla contract but has advised the Spanish club of a desire to return to his homeland, TyC Sports reported on Sunday.

It added that Acuna will arrive in Argentina's capital on Tuesday for a medical, after which he is expected to sign a contract that runs until December 2027.

Acuna has made 149 appearances across all competitions for Sevilla since joining the club from Sporting Lisbon in 2020.

He has been capped 59 times for Argentina and was a part of the Albiceleste squad that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Enditem.
