JERUSALEM -- Israel's largest trade union federation on Sunday called for a general strike on Monday to protest what it described as the government's "abandonment" of hostages in the Gaza Strip and the stalling of negotiations for a ceasefire deal.
The strike is set to begin on Monday at 6:00 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) across all major workplaces. At 8:00 a.m. (0500 GMT), the staff of Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel's main air transport hub, will join the strike. (Israel-General Strike-Trade Union)

KABUL -- At least four people, including a girl, were killed and two others injured after a car plunged into a ditch in north Afghanistan's Badakhshan province on Sunday, the provincial police office said in a statement.
The road mishap took place when the car veered off the road and fell into the ditch en route from Ishkashim district to the neighboring Shaghnan district of the province, the statement said. (Afghanistan-Road Accident)

MOSCOW -- Seventeen bodies have been found after a Russian Mi-8 helicopter crashed in the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said Sunday.

MANILA -- A 17-year-old girl was confirmed dead in a landslide in the early hours of Sunday, while a 26-year-old woman also died after she was pinned by a concrete wall that collapsed in Cebu City in the central Philippines on Sunday, local authorities said.
