Azerbaijan's economy expands over 4 pct in 2024

BAKU, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's economy grew by 4.3 percent in the first eight months of 2024, with its gross domestic product (GDP) reaching 80.96 billion manats (47.62 billion U.S. dollars), the State Statistical Committee reported on Wednesday.

The growth reflected a slight 0.2 percent increase in the value added by the oil and gas sector, while the non-oil and gas sectors experienced a more robust rise of 7 percent.

In terms of sector contributions to GDP, industry led with 37.9 percent, followed by trade and vehicle repair at 9.7 percent, transportation and storage at 7 percent, and construction at 6.1 percent. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing contributed 6 percent, with tourism and catering at 2.5 percent, and the information and communication sector at 1.8 percent. Other sectors accounted for 18.9 percent of GDP.

GDP per capita stood at 7,941.3 manats (4,671.35 USD) during this period. Enditem
