KAMPALA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Uganda Golf Union (UGU) has named a 4-man team that will participate in the Africa Regional Zone IV Golf Championship 2024 in Rwanda.
The Championship, the fifth Edition organized under the Africa Gold Confederation that will attract seven nations, will take place on October 4-6 at the Kigali Golf Resort and Villas in Rwanda.
Flavia Namakula, the head coach told Xinhua on Monday that the team is well prepared and ready to go prove a point in Rwanda. "We have been training well and the team is determined to perform well and try to bring the trophy home," added Namakula.
Joseph Reagan Akena, one of the players said that they are in good form which has been tested in the last two local tournaments. "We are well motivated as a team and prepared to perform well," added Akena.
Anthony Agaba, the Vice President of the Union thanked all the stakeholders and the government through the Ministry of Education and Sports for all the support which is making this trip possible.
The team is expected to return to Uganda on October 7th and immediately embark on preparations for the All Africa Gold Team Championship to be held in Harare, Zimbabwe. Enditem
