ULAN BATOR, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia will raise the monthly minimum wage by 20 percent to 792,000 Mongolian tugriks (approximately 234 U.S. dollars) starting next year, according to the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection on Wednesday.
The decision was made during a meeting of Mongolia's Tripartite Council, which includes representatives from the ministry, employers, and trade unions. The new minimum wage will take effect on April 1, 2025.
Currently, the minimum wage in Mongolia stands at 660,000 tugriks (about 195 dollars). There are over 1.1 million officially registered employees in the Asian country, with approximately 10 percent earning minimum wage salaries, according to the National Statistics Office. Enditem
