BEIRUT -- Hezbollah announced on Tuesday the election of Naim Qassem as party secretary-general, succeeding Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli raid on the party's headquarters in Beirut's southern suburb on Sept. 27.

"Hezbollah's Shura Council agreed to elect His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem as Hezbollah's secretary-general," said Hezbollah in a statement. (Lebanon-Hezbollah-New Chief)

GAZA -- At least 93 Palestinians were killed and 40 others missing in an Israeli bombing of a residential building in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, the Hamas-run Gaza government media office said on Tuesday.

The Israeli army shelled a five-story residential building belonging to the Abu Al-Nasr family, where over 200 civilians, including women and children, were present, the media office said in a press statement. (Gaza Strip-Israeli Bombing-Deaths)

KHARTOUM -- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Tuesday that more than 14 million people had fled their homes since the beginning of the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

"The (internal) displacement number has hit 11 million. That's up 200,000 just since September," IOM Director-General Amy Pope said in a statement. (Sudan-IOM-Displacement)

JERUSALEM -- Four Israeli soldiers were killed on Tuesday in an explosion in the northern Gaza Strip, according to a statement issued by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The four, including an officer, served at the IDF's Multidimensional Unit, a special ground operations task force. Additionally, an Israeli officer sustained serious injuries in the explosion. (Israel-Gaza-Soldier Deaths) Enditem
