COLOMBO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's gross foreign reserves increased by 474 million U.S. dollars in October, reaching 6.4 billion dollars, according to the latest Central Bank of Sri Lanka data.

This represents a 7.9-percent rise from the 5.99 billion dollars recorded in September 2024.

Official gold reserves also slightly increased to 42 million dollars in October from 40 million dollars in September.

Meanwhile, the island country's President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced on Wednesday that Sri Lanka is expected to receive the third tranche of the IMF Extended Fund Facility by the end of January or early February next year. Enditem
