GAZA/RAMALLAH, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were killed and 26 others injured on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a tent housing displaced people inside a hospital in the central Gaza Strip, Hamas said.

"Israeli army bombed for the ninth time in a row tents for journalists and displaced persons inside Al-Aqsa Hospital" in the central Deir al-Balah city, the Hamas-run media office said in a press statement.

Some of them were seriously wounded, it added.

The statement continued that it holds the Israeli army, the U.S. administration, and the countries participating in the killings "fully responsible for these systematic crimes against hospitals, journalists, civilians and displaced persons in the Gaza Strip," calling on the international community to pressure Israel to stop these "crimes."

Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that an Israeli helicopter bombed a tent housing displaced people with at least one missile.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Saturday that over the past day, its Air Force struck over 50 targets in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, including military structures, weapons storage facilities, and projectile launchers.

Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.

The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 43,552, the Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian man was killed by Israeli army gunfire after his house was surrounded in Tubas, northern West Bank, the Ramallah-based Palestinian Health Ministry said on Saturday.

"We were informed by the General Authority for Civil Affairs of the killing of a Palestinian in the town of Aqaba, north of Tubas," the ministry said in a press statement, adding that the Israeli army is still holding his body.

Israeli special forces surrounded a house amid gunfire and military reinforcements accompanied by a bulldozer that stormed the town, according to local Palestinian sources.

The Israeli army has not commented on this incident yet.

Tensions have escalated in the West Bank since Oct. 7, 2023, leading to the killing of more than 770 Palestinians by Israeli gunfire and shelling across the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Enditem
