MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) said Sunday that the number of HIV cases or people living with HIV (PLHIV) in the country was estimated to hit 215,400 before 2024 ends.
Of the estimated PLHIV, 131,335 cases have been diagnosed or laboratory-confirmed and currently living or not reported to have died, as of September, the DOH said. (Philippines-HIV)

ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistani military said on Sunday that eight terrorists and two security members were killed in two separate military operations in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the last three days.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the army, said in a statement that an intelligence-based operation was conducted in Baka Khel area of Bannu district of the province. (Pakistan-Counter Terrorism)

NEW DELHI -- At least three people were killed in separate rain-related incidents in Chennai as cyclone Fengal made landfall along the coastal lines of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, bringing heavy rainfall and triggering inundation of several parts, officials said Sunday.
Cyclone Fengal made landfall on Saturday night. The cyclonic storm crossed north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts, close to Puducherry with a wind speed of 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph. (India-Cyclone-Fengal)

KATHMANDU -- Polling started on Sunday morning in Nepal for the election of 41 local representatives in all seven provinces.
