Tsunami warning issued after 7.0-magnitude quake strikes Northern California

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tsunami warning after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Northern California in the United States on Thursday.

The notable quake struck areas around Ferndale, a city in Humboldt County in Northern California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

It was initially reported as a 6.6-magnitude quake but was upgraded to 7.0 by the USGS later.
