Vietnam's retail sales, service revenues up 8.8 pct in 11 months

HANOI, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues increased by 8.8 percent year on year in the first 11 months of this year to more than 5.8 quadrillion Vietnamese dong (228.5 billion U.S. dollars), according to the latest statistics of the country's General Statistics Office.

During the cited period, the restaurant and accommodation revenues increased 13 percent, and tourism revenues surged 17.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the office.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales stood at nearly 2.5 quadrillion dong (98.5 billion dollars), up 8.1 percent, with the sales of food and foodstuff growing by 10.8 percent, those of household equipment rising by 5.9 percent, and those of clothing going up by 8.1 percent.

In November alone, the revenue from retail sales of consumer goods and services totaled 562 trillion dong (22.1 billion dollars), an increase of 8.3 percent year on year thanks to the major contribution of the food, accommodation and tourism sector, said the office. Enditem
