JAKARTA, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's consumer confidence in the economy strengthened in November, driven by improved economic expectations, according to a survey released by Bank Indonesia on Monday.

The consumer confidence index rose to 125.9 in November 2024, up from 121.1 in the previous month. The increase was supported by higher readings in the index of current economic conditions and the consumer expectation index, which climbed to 113.5 and 138.3, respectively, from 109.9 and 132.4 in October, said Ramdan Denny Prakoso, head of the communication department at Bank Indonesia, in a press release introducing the survey.

According to the survey, consumer expectations for economic conditions over the next six months are also projected to improve. The increase was driven by stronger expectations in all components, including income, job availability, and business activities, which rose from 138.4, 129.5, and 129.2 to 141.7, 136.8, and 136.2, respectively.

Geographically, several cities saw notable increases in the consumer expectation index. Padang city recorded the largest gain at 25.2 points, followed by Palembang and Ambon, which rose by 12.3 points each. Enditem
