TUNIS, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia's Foreign Ministry on Monday called on Syrian factions to unite and prioritize national interests to preserve the country's security, independence, and stability, the state-run Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported.

Tunisia stressed the importance of ensuring the security of the Syrian people and a peaceful political transition in Syria, the ministry said in a statement quoted by TAP.

It also highlighted the need to preserve the Syrian state as a unified, fully sovereign state to avoid chaos, divisions, and foreign occupation, adding the North African country rejected any foreign interference in Syrian affairs.
