HANOI, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Over 50-percent rise in average export prices of Vietnamese coffee has pushed the country's coffee export revenue in 2024 to potentially surpass the 5-billion-U.S. dollar mark for the first time, local media reported Thursday, citing the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association.

The coffee export revenue for this year is projected to reach 5.5 billion dollars thanks to abundant supply and high export prices, said the association.

Vietnamese coffee prices in the international market soared by over 90 percent in ten months, increasing from over 3,000 dollars per ton in January to 5,855 dollars per ton in October, according to the association.

In the first 11 months of this year, the average coffee prices rose 56.9 percent year on year to 4,037 dollars per ton.

During the 2023-2024 crop year, Vietnam exported about 1.46 million tons of coffee, earning 5.43 billion dollars, marking the highest level ever in a coffee season. Enditem
