KATHMANDU, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Nepal received remittances worth 3.87 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of the 2024-25 fiscal year, the central bank announced on Thursday.
The amount means an increase of 9.1 percent over the same period of the previous fiscal year, the Nepal Rastra Bank said in a report.
It attributed the growth to growing number of migrant workers working abroad.
The country's foreign exchange reserves also surged to 16.7 billion dollars in the first four months of 2024-25, up 9.4 percent over the same period of 2023-24.
"The foreign exchange reserves are enough to cover merchandise imports for 18 months and merchandise and service imports for 15.1 months," the bank noted in its report. Enditem
