TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran's non-oil exports increased by 18 percent year-on-year in value between March 20 and December 20, covering the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year, the official IRNA news agency reported on Saturday.

Exports of non-oil goods reached 116.3 million tonnes, worth 43.14 billion U.S. dollars, during the period, a 13.8 percent increase in weight compared to the same period last year, IRNA cited Foroud Asgari, head of Iran's customs administration, as saying.

Petrochemicals dominated exports, accounting for 50.7 million tonnes and 19.7 billion dollars in value, up 33.3 percent and 32 percent respectively year-on-year, said Asgari.

Imports during the same period totaled 27.9 million tonnes, valued at 50.9 billion dollars, a 3.2-percent decrease in weight compared to the previous year, he added.

Asgari named China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Türkiye, and Afghanistan as Iran's top five export destinations, while the UAE, China, Türkiye, Germany and India were listed as the top five exporters to Iran. Enditem
