JAKARTA, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers have recovered four bodies from a fire that broke out at a shopping mall in Jakarta on Wednesday evening, the city's fire and rescue department said on Thursday.

The victims were found on the eighth floor of Glodok Plaza on Thursday afternoon and were transferred to the police hospital for further identification, according to Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency chief Satriadi Gunawan.

Gunawan confirmed that eight people were initially reported missing in the accident.

Rescuers were deployed to search the seventh and eighth floors, believed to be the last known locations of the missing individuals, in the entertainment areas suspected to be the fire's point of origin.

Preliminary reports indicated the blaze started at approximately 9:20 p.m. local time in the western sub-district of Tamansari. A number of visitors were reportedly inside the mall when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire was under investigations. Enditem
