VIENTIANE, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Laos has experienced a remarkable surge in tourism, surpassing expectations for both domestic and international visitors in 2024, according to recent data.

During the Visit Laos Year 2024 tourism promotion campaign, domestic visitors exceeded 3 million, marking a 102 percent increase from 2023, while international visitors rose by 21 percent, with over 4.1 million visits, Lao Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Suansavanh Viyaket said during the ministry's meeting on Wednesday.

The launch of the Visit Laos Year 2024 is believed to have boosted the sector, emphasizing the enhancement of tourism services and business standards. Many enterprises were assessed and certified according to ASEAN tourism standards to improve service quality.

The Visit Laos Year 2024 campaign featured 79 major events and activities, including 14 at the national level and 65 at the provincial level. Enditem
