KABUL, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan exported medicinal plants valued at 20 million U.S. dollars in 2024, an official from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce reported.

Most of the medicinal plants were exported to Afghanistan's trade partners, including the United Arab Emirates, China, India, Pakistan, Türkiye, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, the United States, Canada, and other countries, local media outlet TOLOnews quoted Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the ministry, as saying on Sunday.

The exported plants, which totaled 15,200 tons, included asafetida, Glycyrrhiza glabra, caraway, and nigella sativa.

Official data from the ministry indicates that Afghanistan's total trade volume in 2024 surpassed 12 billion U.S. dollars, showing a 38-percent growth in imports from the previous year, contrasted by a 4-percent drop in exports. Enditem
