NEW DELHI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- India's gross domestic product (GDP) grew at the rate of 6.2 percent during the third quarter (October-December) of the country's financial year 2024-25 (April 2024-March 2025), official data showed on Friday.

According to an official statement issued by the country's Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI), the GDP growth registered in the third quarter (Q3) went up from 5.6 percent logged in the second quarter.

The real GDP has observed a growth rate of 6.2 percent in Q3 of FY 2024-25, the statement said.

It further stated that during the entire financial year 2023-24, India had recorded a real GDP growth rate of 9.2 percent, which was the highest annual growth rate in the past 12 years.

One of the key factors cited for the rise in the GDP growth rate was the increase in rural demand. A favorable monsoon that improved agricultural output led to higher production of major crops grown during the season, which further boosted rural incomes, said an online report by India Today.
