BARCELONA, Spain, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Ericsson has reaffirmed its commitment to Chinese customers, emphasizing AI-driven telecom solutions and closer collaboration with local operators as it seeks to expand in the Chinese market, a senior executive of the company said during the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

Magnus Ewerbring, chief technology officer for Asia-Pacific at Ericsson, told Xinhua in an exclusive interview that China remains a key strategic market for the company, given its large market size and rapid adoption of cutting-edge telecom technology.

China is one of the earliest nations to launch 5G and a key market driving large-scale adoption, he said, adding that innovation thrives in markets where technology is tested at an early stage.

The Swedish telecom giant is working closely with China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom, tapping into the growing demand for innovative 5G applications, a sector in which Chinese operators have been particularly active.

AI has been a major theme at MWC this year, and Ericsson is integrating AI across its telecom solutions to enhance efficiency and optimize network performance.

"We have been incorporating AI into our products and services for years, ensuring that our networks are easier to manage and more efficient. AI-assisted optimization enhances performance, and we see great potential in AI-powered applications that leverage the network to support computing and mobile devices," Ewerbring said.

He also praised China's rapid advancements in AI development.

"China has a lot of innovation, and that, of course, is a strength," he noted, adding that Ericsson will continue focusing on ensuring its networks can support the next generation of AI-driven applications. Enditem
