RIYADH, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that ongoing talks in Jeddah between U.S. and Ukrainian officials are part of the kingdom's efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis.

In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, the ministry said the talks were hosted in Saudi Arabia "thanks to its balanced relations with various parties, and its efforts to enhance global security and peace."

The ministry reiterated the kingdom's commitment to international law and norms, emphasizing that "dialogue is seen as the most effective way to resolve disputes and bring viewpoints closer together, which contributes to consolidating international security and stability."

The Jeddah meeting follows the cancellation of a U.S.-Ukraine minerals deal and a reported suspension of U.S. military aid to Ukraine after a rare shouting match between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

U.S. attendees include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

The Ukrainian delegation comprises Zelensky's Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Deputy Chief of Staff Pavlo Palisa.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and National Security Advisor Musaed bin Muhammad Al-Aiban are also participating in the talks. Enditem
