BEIRUT, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank has presented a 1-billion-U.S.-dollar reconstruction project in Lebanon, focused on rebuilding critical infrastructure, the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Wednesday.

The project, which includes a 250-million-dollar World Bank loan, will be supplemented by international aid to cover the remaining funding, the NNA said.

The initiative was outlined during a Wednesday meeting between Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and a World Bank delegation. It will utilize economic measurement methodology to address landfill remediation and vital infrastructure reconstruction, the NNA reported.

Salam stressed the need to prioritize reconstruction in border areas severely damaged by conflict, facilitate road reopening, and enable the return of displaced citizens.

The Lebanon Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA) 2025 report, released by the World Bank on Friday, estimated reconstruction and recovery needs following the conflict at 11 billion dollars. Enditem
