NEW DELHI, April 9 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and several others injured due to lightning strikes in India's eastern state of Bihar, the state-run broadcaster All India Radio said Wednesday.

Heavy rains and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning strikes lashed the state Wednesday morning, affecting several districts.

"In Bihar, at least eight people died and several others were injured due to lightning in Madhubani and Begusarai districts today," the broadcaster said.

The report said the victims were working outside in fields when lightning struck them. Enditem
