NEW YORK, April 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 312.08 points, or 0.78 percent, to 40,524.79. The S&P 500 added 42.61 points, or 0.79 percent, to 5,405.97. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 107.03 points, or 0.64 percent, to 16,831.48.

Ten of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with real estate and utilities leading the gainers by adding 2.15 percent and 1.75 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer discretionary bucked the trend by losing 0.10 percent. Enditem
