TOKYO, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Japan's seasonally adjusted core machinery orders rose 4.3 percent in February from the previous month, the first increase in three months, government data showed on Wednesday.
Core machinery orders excluding those for ships and power equipment, which are closely watched as a leading indicator of corporate capital investment, totaled 894.7 billion yen (about 6.27 billion U.S. dollars) in February, according to the Cabinet Office.
Machinery orders from manufacturers climbed 3.0 percent to 425.4 billion yen, the first rise in three months, while non-manufacturing orders gained 11.4 percent to 487.3 billion yen.
The Cabinet Office kept its basic order trend assessment unchanged, saying that machinery orders are showing signs of picking up. Enditem
