Bangladesh, Pakistan hold FOC to bolster ties after 15-year gap

DHAKA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh and Pakistan Thursday held a foreign secretary-level Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) in capital Dhaka after a 15-year gap.

Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin led the Bangladesh delegation, while Pakistan side was represented by its Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral issues focusing on trade tie between the two nations.

During her visit, Baloch held separate meetings with Bangladeshi interim government's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, where they discussed issues of mutual interest.

Following the FOC talks held for the first time between the two nations since 2010, Uddin briefed the media on the outcome at the foreign ministry, and confirmed that Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to pay an official visit to Dhaka later in April.

His visit will be the first by a Pakistani foreign minister since 2012. Enditem
