RIO DE JANEIRO, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Argentine manager Ramon Diaz was sacked by Corinthians on Thursday after the club's poor start to the Brazilian Serie A season.

The announcement followed a 2-0 home loss to Fluminense on Wednesday, a result that left the Sao Paulo outfit 13th in Brazil's 20-team top-flight standings with one win from four games.

In a statement, Corinthians said assistant coaches Emiliano Diaz, Bruno Urribarri and Osmar Ferreyra, as well as physical trainer Diego Pereira, had also left the club.

"The football board thanks the professionals for their services and wishes them success in the future," the statement read. It added that youth team coach Orlando Ribeiro would take charge on an interim basis.

Diaz led Corinthians to 30 wins, 16 draws and 13 losses across all competitions after replacing Antonio Oliveira last July. Enditem
