WASHINGTON -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday downgraded its global growth forecast in 2025 to 2.8 percent, a 0.5 percentage point decrease from its January projection, according to the latest World Economic Outlook. (IMF-Global Growth-Forecast)

CAIRO/GAZA -- A Hamas delegation led by its chief Khalil al-Hayya has arrived in Cairo to discuss a new Egyptian proposal for a long-term ceasefire with Israel in the Gaza Strip, an Egyptian source told Xinhua on Tuesday.

"The Egyptian plan calls for a five- to seven-year truce, a full exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees, the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and a complete Israeli withdrawal from the enclave," the source said on condition of anonymity. (Hamas-Israel-Ceasefire Proposal)

YANGON -- The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services of Myanmar on Tuesday announced the extension of the temporary ceasefire, which was originally in place from April 2 to April 22.

MANILA -- Seven male employees of a neighborhood bakery were killed in a stabbing incident in Antipolo City in Rizal province, east of Manila, on Tuesday, police said.

Police said the incident happened early Tuesday morning when a lone suspect, a bakery worker, entered the bread store and stabbed to death his co-workers who were asleep inside. (Philippines-Stabbing-Death) Enditem
