ISLAMABAD, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Seventeen terrorists were killed in an operation in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement on Monday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing, the operation was conducted on Sunday night in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan district.
It followed a series of successful counter-insurgency actions by security forces between April 25 and 27, during which 54 terrorists who attempted to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan were killed.
During the operation, 17 more terrorists were killed, the ISPR said, adding that a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the scene.
The number of terrorists killed in the three-day anti-infiltration operation has risen to 71, it added.
Security forces of Pakistan remain determined and committed to securing the country's borders and eradicating the menace of terrorism, the statement added. Enditem
