Russia continues to rank among world's largest arms exporters: Putin

MOSCOW, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Russia remains one of the largest arms exporters in the world, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday, noting that the country's military equipment is currently in demand.

"Russia continues to rank among the top five leaders in the global arms market and maintains its leading export positions in many sectors," Putin said during a meeting on military-technical cooperation.

In televised remarks, he said that Russia generally fulfilled the export obligations in 2024. "The stock of orders for Russian military products is now serious. It is tens of billions of dollars," he noted, calling for efforts to increase arms exports.

The president said that the demand for Russian military equipment is rising, and he instructed the government to offer new state support measures and develop its potential.

Putin said that Russia's military equipment and weapons are continuously being improved, and the main task of the military-industrial complex is to supply the Russian army for the country's special military operation. Enditem
