ISLAMABAD -- At least four people were killed and 10 others injured in rain-related incidents across different districts of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, rescue officials said on Friday.
According to the spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bilal Ahmad Faizi, the fatalities occurred after a series of lightning strikes and structural collapses amid extremely heavy rain in the province on Thursday evening. (Pakistan-Rain)

ISTANBUL -- Turkish police detained 873 people in a large-scale security operation in Istanbul aimed at maintaining public order and apprehending criminal suspects, the city's police department said on Friday.

JAKARTA -- Landslides occurred at a quarry in Indonesia's West Java Province on Friday, leaving at least seven people dead and 12 others injured, with three people missing, a rescuer said.
The landslides occurred in Gunung Kuda mine located in Bobos Village of Cirebon Regency, said Mamang Fatmono, acting head of the operational unit of the provincial search and rescue office. (Indonesia-Landslides)

NEW DELHI -- At least five persons died and more than 25 were injured in a blast inside a firecracker manufacturing unit in India's northern state of Punjab on Thursday, confirmed a local cop over the phone.
The factory was located near a village in Punjab's Sri Muktsar Sahib district. All the victims were laborers engaged in the manufacturing and packaging of firecrackers. (India-Blast) Enditem
