SINGAPORE -- The 22nd edition of the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia's premier defense and security summit, opened here on Friday amid geopolitical tensions.

JAKARTA -- The number of casualties of landslides at a quarry in Indonesia's West Java province on Friday rose to at least 13, with several others missing, a rescuer said.

MANILA -- Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos has chosen Foreign Undersecretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro as the new foreign secretary, the country's Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin has said.
