JERUSALEM, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces wounded a Palestinian young man during a raid in the occupied West Bank town of Qabatiya on Saturday, Palestine's official news agency WAFA reported.
Citing local sources, WAFA said Israeli special forces stormed a neighbourhood in the northern town and surrounded a house. It reported an arrest campaign, with troops raiding several homes. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its medics treated one man for a hand injury.
Separately, Israeli police said three suspected militants affiliated with the Islamic Jihad movement were arrested during the operation in Qatatiya. The suspects, described as arms dealers, were detained in a joint undercover raid carried out by Border Police, the army, and the Shin Bet internal intelligence service. The arrests took place in two buildings in the town, police said, and a large cache of weapons and ammunition was seized.
The Israeli military said clashes erupted as its forces were leaving the area, with explosives thrown at troops who responded with live fire.
Israel captured the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in the 1967 Middle East war. The territory is considered occupied under international law. Enditem
