TOKYO -- Two people have been seriously injured in separate bear incidents in Akita Prefecture, northeastern Japan, on Monday and Tuesday, local media reported.

An 80-year-old woman was clawed on her face by a bear, which appeared to be a cub, when she was walking alone in the city of Odate at around 5:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday, public broadcaster NHK reported, citing the police and fire officials. (Japan-Bear Incidents)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to create a "SuperApp" that will allow the public to access all government services through a single digital platform, a minister said on Tuesday.

Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa told journalists in Colombo that Sri Lankans currently must access public services through multiple online apps, which wastes time and money. BANGKOK -- Thailand's auto production dropped for a second straight month in August due to falling output of passenger cars and pickup trucks for exports, data from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) showed on Tuesday.

Thai auto manufacturers produced 112,366 vehicles last month, down 6.11 percent from a year earlier, slowing from an 11.39 percent decrease in July, according to the FTI. (Thailand-Auto Production)

JAKARTA -- Indonesia expects to create more than 6,800 green jobs through the development of nuclear power plants as part of its broader push into renewable energy.

"If we develop a small modular reactor or large-scale nuclear power, we can estimate that around 6,800 green jobs will be created," Indonesian Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung said at the 2025 Green Energy Summit in South Jakarta on Tuesday.
