MANILA -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.7 rocked Cebu province in the central Philippines on Tuesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.
In a report, the institute said that the quake, which occurred at 9:59 p.m. local time, struck at a depth of 10 km, approximately 17 km northeast of Bogo City. (Philippines-Earthquake)

GAZA -- Hamas has started consultations and discussions with other Palestinian factions to study a plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip, a Hamas source said on Tuesday.
The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua that mediators from Qatar and Egypt reviewed the plan before presenting it to Hamas leadership and other factions. (Gaza Strip-Hamas-Israel)

LONDON -- The United Kingdom (UK) has imposed sanctions on over 70 Iranian individuals and organizations with links to Iran's nuclear program, the British government announced on Tuesday.
The sanctions include travel bans, freezing assets and disqualifying directors.
"UK sanctions have been applied to 71 individuals and entities," said the British government. "Iranian financial institutions and energy companies are amongst those sanctioned, as well as Iranian figures and entities involved in facilitating the nuclear program." (UK-Iran-Nuclear)

JAKARTA -- The death toll from the collapse of a school building in Sidoarjo district of Indonesia's East Java province on Monday afternoon has risen to three, head of the National Search and Rescue Agency Mohammad Syafii said on Tuesday.
Nanang Sigit, head of the East Java Search and Rescue Office, told Xinhua that the accident, which occurred at the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School, also left more than 80 people injured and 38 others trapped.
