GAZA -- Israel handed over the bodies of 45 Palestinians to Gaza through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Gaza's health authorities said on Wednesday.

BAGHDAD -- Safaa al-Mashhadani, a sitting member of the Baghdad Provincial Council and a candidate for Iraq's upcoming parliamentary elections, was killed early Wednesday in a bomb explosion in the north of the Iraqi capital, Iraqi security authorities said.

The incident occurred after midnight on Wednesday when a sticky bomb attached to al-Mashhadani's vehicle detonated in the Tarmiyah area, some 40 km north of Baghdad, killing him and wounding four others, the Baghdad Operations Command (BOC) said in a statement. GAZA -- Two Palestinians were killed in Israeli shelling east of Gaza City, while 24 others were arrested by Israeli forces in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, Palestinian sources said.

Medical sources at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City told Xinhua that the two were killed when Israeli shelling targeted a gathering of civilians in the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of the city. (Gaza Strip-Israeli Attacks-Casualty)

RIYADH -- Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced on Wednesday the launch of King Salman Gate, a large mixed-use development in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
