ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's security forces killed eight terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Friday.

TOKYO -- Japan's core consumer prices in September rose 2.9 percent from a year earlier, driven by higher food and energy prices, government data showed Friday.
The pace of increase in the nationwide consumer price index (CPI), which excludes volatile fresh food, accelerated for the first time in four months, following a 2.7 percent gain in August, amid lower energy costs, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
