BANGKOK -- Thailand's economy picked up in September on a monthly basis, driven by rising exports, a rebound in manufacturing, and higher foreign tourism receipts, the central bank said on Friday.

HANOI -- The death toll from heavy rains and flooding in Vietnam's central region has risen to 28, with six people missing and 43 others injured, local daily VnExpress reported Friday night.
