ELGEYO MARAKWET, Kenya -- At least 13 people were confirmed dead and several others missing on Saturday after mudslides triggered by heavy rains swept through villages in Elgeyo Marakwet County, western Kenya, authorities said.
The Ministry of Interior and National Administration said the mudslides struck overnight in Endo, Sambirir, and Embobut areas following torrential rains, destroying homes, uprooting trees, and cutting off key access roads. (Kenya-Mudslides-Death)

NEW DELHI -- The impact of cyclone Montha has killed at least nine people, wreaking havoc and causing large damage and destruction in the southern Indian states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, officials said Saturday.
According to officials, cyclone Montha made landfall on the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday night, bringing record-breaking rainfall, thereby triggering floods and waterlogging. The cyclonic winds tore through these states, damaging crops, transmission lines, utility poles and uprooting trees. Power outages have been recorded in many parts of the affected areas. JERUSALEM -- The remains of three bodies handed over Friday night to Israel by Hamas have been identified as not belonging to any Israeli hostages, local media reported on Saturday.
"We ruled out that the remains returned on Friday evening are related to Israeli hostages," Israeli news website Ynet quoted an Israeli official as saying, following examinations at the National Center for Forensic Medicine. (Israel-Hamas-Hostage)

NEW DELHI -- At least 10 people were killed and many others injured Saturday in a stampede at a Hindu temple in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, officials said.
The accident occurred at Venkateswara Swamy temple in Kasibugga of Srikakulam district, about 548 km northeast of Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, where a large crowd had gathered on the occasion of Ekadashi, an auspicious day in Hinduism. (India-Stampede) Enditem
