MANILA, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Monday approved a 50-million-U.S.-dollar grant to help Tajikistan advance structural reforms that promote green jobs, boost economic diversification, and strengthen fiscal governance and transparency, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for women.
The reforms include amending the country's leasing law to improve small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)' access to finance, developing green taxonomies to guide climate-aligned investments, introducing incentives for climate-friendly SMEs, and adopting a new law on organic production.
These measures, the ADB said, support Tajikistan's shift toward a greener and more sustainable economy.
The bank added that the program also enhances fiscal and climate governance by expanding fiscal risk reporting and initiating climate budget tagging, while accelerating digital transformation through stronger cybersecurity, fiscal incentives for tech-driven activities, and the establishment of an IT park.
The reforms are expected to strengthen Tajikistan's competitiveness and bolster efforts to attract investment. Enditem
