GAZA/JERUSALEM -- Hamas said on Monday that the discovery of the remains of the last Israeli hostage held in the Gaza Strip demonstrates the movement's full commitment to the ceasefire agreement.

BRUSSELS -- The Council of the European Union (EU) on Monday gave a final approval to a ban on imports of Russian pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) into the EU, with a full ban entering into force from January 2027 for LNG and from the autumn of 2027 for pipeline gas.

The ban on Russian pipeline gas and LNG will take effect six weeks after the regulations enter into force, while existing contracts will be given a transition period to wind down. The regulation will enter into force one day after it is published in the EU's Official Journal, according to the press release. (EU-Russian Gas-Import)

THE HAGUE -- The International Criminal Court (ICC) announced Monday that the confirmation of charges hearing for former Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will be held on Feb. 23, as the court found that Duterte can take part in the pre-trial proceedings.

According to an ICC statement, Duterte's defense team had requested an indefinite adjournment of the proceedings, including the confirmation of charges hearing, arguing that he was not fit to participate. In response, ICC's Pre-Trial Chamber I appointed a panel of three independent medical experts to conduct an examination. The Chamber received the panel's reports on Dec. 5, 2025.
