PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia has expelled nearly 18,000 foreign online scam suspects this year amid an ongoing crackdown on cybercrime, an immigration official said Tuesday.

TOKYO -- Typhoon Chan-hom made landfall in the eastern Japan prefecture of Ibaraki on Tuesday night, the weather agency said, urging caution against violent winds, high waves and heavy rain.
Chan-hom, traveling in an unusual direction from east to west, was the first typhoon to make landfall in Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, since records began in 1951, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. (Japan-Typhoon)

SINGAPORE -- The Singaporean government on Tuesday raised the country's 2026 economic growth forecast to 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent, from the previous 2 percent to 4 percent, citing a better-than-expected performance in the first half of the year and an improved outlook for the rest of the year.

BANGKOK -- Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Tuesday ordered a nationwide tightening of firearms controls, suspending gun purchase permits and cracking down on illegally held and black-market weapons through both emergency and long-term measures.
