First Sichuan Int'l Travel Expo to open

The First Sichuan International Travel Expo (SCITE) will open on Sept.26 in Emeishan City, Sichuan Province.

The four-day expo, themed "tourism trade, open cooperation," covers an exhibition area of 58,000 square meters. It will include six major activities: tourism product trade, a tourism commodity fair, tourism image display, online expo, themed activities and supporting activities.

A summit on the development of global tourism industry, Sichuan's tourism promotions, and the Fifth China International Road-Trip Expo will also be held during the expo.

Deals worth a total of some 100 billion yuan (US$16.1 billion) are expected to be signed at the expo.

The expo, co-hosted by the People's Government of Leshan City, the Tourism Administration of Sichuan and the Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs, aims to foster a platform for global trade in tourism products and services and enhance the exchanges and cooperation in the tourism industry.

Sichuan, well-known as the land of abundance and the home of the giant panda, is a hot global tourist destination.
