Seven people were missing after an avalanche in eastern Tibet on Monday, local government reported on Tuesday.

The missing are members of a 29-people group of migrant workers from south-west China's Sichuan province, who were heading to Medog county from Bomi county on a coach. They left the coach after it had driven 24 kilometers towards Medog County and continued their journey on foot.

The avalanche occurred when they were 20 meters from the peak of Gawalong Mountain at around 11 a.m.. A total of 14 people were buried initially and seven managed to free themselves. The others remained missing.

Bomi county government has sent a 60-people team to search for the missing migrant workers.

Medog is the only county that has no highway access in China.
