A heavy windstorm affected parts of Turkey on April 18, 2012, leaving at least 4 people dead and dozens injured. In Istanbul, where wind speed reached a staggering 90 km per hour, traffic was badly affected, with dozens of cars moving slowly on the Bosphorus Bridge. Many scheduled passenger ships had to either postpone or cancel their trips due to the strong winds. Moreover, some 43 domestic and international Turkish Airlines flights were cancelled. The windstorm also hit the provinces of Mugla, Eskisehir, Izmir, Konya and Karaman. [Full story] |
