On the morning of June 29, after checking and confirming the related date regarding the Hong Kong-Macao-Zhuhai Bridge, the administration bureau of the bridge announced the success of the joining operation.

The Hong Kong-Macao-Zhuhai Bridge, the length of which is 55 kilometers (34 miles), is an ultra-large traffic channel that links Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao over the sea. The main part consists of the undersea channel of 6.7 kilometers (4.1 miles) and the bridge part of 22.9 kilometers (14.2 miles). On both ends of the channel are two artificial islands. The design service life of the bridge is 120 years.

According to the administration bureau, the construction process of the main part is proceeding smoothly. Currently, over 4,700metersof the underwater channel have been completed and the remaining part accounts for less than 20% of the total construction work. After the joining operation, the follow-up construction which includes paving the bridge's surface and traffic engineering work will be gradually carried out.
