On August 9, the leaders of the Guangdong government congregated for the second session to review the current process of the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and emphasize the major work and goals for the remaining construction.

During the meeting, Governor Zhu Xiaodan first gave full praise to all departments for their hard work in the firstphase of construction. However, as the central government attaches more importance to the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative, Guangdong Province as one of the pivotal locations of the initiative shoulders an ambitious expectation to become the main force to promote the Belt and Road. Therefore, the governor stressed the necessity to materialize the central government’s policies.

To be specific, Guangdong needs to pay special attention to the construction of major projects, especially fund-raising, supervision, establishing data bases and dynamic management. Traffic infrastructure is another area that Guangdong should spare no efforts to improve in that the improved maritime, air and land traffic conditions will further facilitate international cooperation in the economy and people-to-people exchange. Also, comprehensive services for enterprises are to be constantly improved for the better environment of promoting the Belt and Road Initiative.
