According to the 2016 Research Report on Chinese Cities' Fiscal Transparency, of the 295 cities at the prefecture level or above in the country, Zhuhai ranks fourth, following Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai and followed by Wuhan and Hangzhou.

The report uses the centesimal system. Four cities scored 80 or more points, 20 cities scored 70 or more points and 63 cities scored 60 or more points, a huge leap forward when compared to last year's report. It's worth mentioning that Zhuhai scored 80.15 points.

Reporters learned from the Zhuhai Municipal Finance Bureau that Zhuhai ranked sixth in both 2013 and 2014, and fifth in 2015. This proves that Zhuhai's effort in improving its fiscal transparency has been recognized by professional institutions in the country.

More of Zhuhai's budget holders, including the Municipal People's Congress, the Municipal Political Consultative Conference, public security departments and social organizations, have made their administration of finance public. This has met the public's right to know the city's financial conditions.

This year, a new list of units, covering public hospitals and radio stations, have been added to the budget units.
